Training Programme
Training Programme Training in Dairying and Fodder Production, improved Animal Husbandry practices to farmers, farm women, unemployed youths, students of Job-Oriented Courses in Animal Husbandry and trainees sponsored by various Social Service Organisations. We also conduct refresher course for Departmental Officers and rotatory cumpolsary Internship Training for undergraduates of different Veterinary Colleges.
Pure Breeds
Pure Breeds Pure bred dairy animals, including cows, heifers and calves are maintained. The pedigree of these animals are well maintained along with production performances. These animals are used for demonstration purpose to help trainees in getting adequate practical knowledge of the various animal husbandry and dairy practices.
Frozen Semen
Frozen Semen Frozen Semen production unit at SLBTC is an ISO 9001:2000 Certified centre. Highly pedigreed Jersey, HF, Murrah & Surti bulls are maintained at the centre to produce frozen semen, which is distributed to Government Institutions throughout the State for carrying out Artificial Insemination to upgrade local cattle and to preserve native breeds.
Fodder Production
Fodder Production Improved fodder production practices are followed to supply seeds and rootslips to farmers. The fodder requirement of the centre is being met by the fodder produced in the irrigated land. Excess fodder is stored as hay as well as silage and enriched fodder. Fodder is also supplied to other institutions on request and to farmers during draught conditions at nominal charges as prescribed by the Government.
Embryo Transfer Technology
ETT Programme Government of India and Karnataka State (Karnataka Livestock Development Agency) have signed an MoU to carry out Embryo Transfer Technology Programme for production of highly pedigreed bull calves as well as female calves required for upgradation of native and non-descriptive breeds.
